Today, I’m adding a new category called, “Don’t Make Me Come Over There.”
In it will go the things that are aggravating in life.
For example.
Last night, a teaser commercial for the upcoming newscast declared: “GM to cut 4,000 jobs in Ontario.”
The actual news is that GM is cutting 30,000 jobs across North America. Last I checked, Ontario is only one part of North America. And last I checked, the rest of those parts are also important.
What aggravates me is that the teaser was designed to get people’s attention by making them think we’re being singled out. It ignores the fact that 26,000 other people are also suffering the loss of their jobs. Why? Because they aren’t “us”.
I’m sure that the newscast addressed the story in its entirety, but I find it borderline sensationalist to try and raise viewer interest this way.
Don’t do that.
Don’t make me come over there.
