I am tired

Why? Because I got up at 5am to drive across the province and interview with a potential customer, then drove back. That was pretty much my working day. Then I came home, and absolutely could not resist napping. Mmm…nap. Maybe I’ll just close my eyes for a little bit long…

No no, none of that. After all, I still have work to do. Gotta finish the article that didn’t get finished last night.

In case you’re wondering, I didn’t end up late at the office every day last week…I got a reprieve on one of my deadlines, so I was only late at the office a couple of days.

On Saturday, I managed to hit four out of my five targeted destinations. I missed the KWLT barbecue, but spent a few hours at the Royal Medieval Faire in Waterloo Park, then hopped over to a friend’s birthday get-together, and then over to another party.

RMF was a lot of fun…it was very well attended, despite the cool, slightly windy weather. I went with some friends and their kids, which made it all the more fun. Things like that are always better with young children…I think it’s the sense of wonder and amazement that they express, taking in a world that’s so unusual and different. Even the older ones, who know it’s not real.

I wish I could have stayed longer at the party I went to afterward, but I’m glad I at least got some time in there. My final stop was the first event that I had committed to weeks ago, and it was with people whom I don’t see as often as I should, so it deserved the most time. It was a great time, and I found it somewhat amusing how things have changed. It wasn’t too long ago when the parties were all adults, and now the get-togethers are becoming family affairs. Again, I kinda like that.

I got to spend time doting on the young son of one of my closest friends, which I haven’t really had a chance to do, yet. He’s just coming up on a year old, and he’s super cute. The last time I saw him he was teething, so there was a lot of crying and screaming. This time was all happiness and joy. Well, except for the brief moment where he face-planted into the carpet.

And to be clear, I had nothing to do with that.

There were also a couple of dogs at the party, which was nice. I love my cats dearly, but wow do I miss having a dog around.

Other than that, I caught up with people whom I should never need to catch up with, and made some great new friends. So all in all, it was a great time.

And since I should really be working on my article now, that’s all I have to say about that.

  1. It was good to see you last Saturday. Seriously – I was thrilled that you made it out in time for dinner and helped close the gathering. The fact that there were puppies and babies in my house – that one is still somewhat unexplainable. ;p

Ah yes…5 am…stupid o’clock. That’s my new wake-up time…probably for the next 2 years. Bleh. At least Coach Canada is doing the driving for me.
