It turns out that my roommate ate all of the apples last week and bought more, which is why the apple I was eating on Monday was surprisingly fresh…it had only been purchased the day before.
That also explains why the apple was yellow and red, when I specifically remembered buying Red Delicious apples (which tend to be red). It’s a Honey Crisp.
And while we’re on the subject, the apple I’m eating right now isn’t as good as the one I ate on Monday. Not bad, but not nearly as fantastic. It’s partially my fault; instead of putting it in the fridge, I left it on my desk. Room-temperature apples are never as tasty as cold ones, in my opinion.
